The Rolling Stones are an English rock band formed in London in May 1962. They are recognized as one of the longest-lived and most commercially successful groups in rock history, having been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989 as performers. The band's lineup has seen various changes over the years. Initially, they featured members on keyboards and piano, lead and rhythm guitars, bass, and drums. The lead vocalist, harmonica player, and percussionist has been with the band since its inception, along with another member who plays lead and rhythm guitars, acoustic guitar, and provides backing vocals. The bass player remained until January 1993, while the drummer and percussionist was part of the group until August 2021. A lead and slide guitarist joined in July 1969 and stayed until December 1974, while another guitarist providing backing vocals has been with the band since March 1975. The Rolling Stones have an extensive discography, with notable releases in the 1960s in both the UK and the US.
