**Bio: The Royals** The Royals are a Jamaican vocal group formed in 1964, with Roy Anthony Cousins as the core member throughout numerous lineup changes. Born on August 25, 1949, in Kingston, Roy began singing in the Church of God Junior Choir during his childhood. At fifteen, he joined his first vocal group with friends and later formed The Royals with guitarist Berthram "Harry" Johnson and a friend named Lloydie. The original lineup included Errol Green, Trevor McFarlane, Maurice "Professor" Johnson, and Roy. Tragically, Maurice passed away shortly after leaving to form the Tennors. The group recorded their first single, "House On The Hill," in 1965, followed by "We Are In The Mood." They later worked with Studio One, where they recorded eight unreleased tracks. Years later, "Pick Up The Pieces" was released, initially credited to another name before being changed back to The Royals at the group's request. Over the years, the lineup continued to change, with Errol Green and Trevor McFarlane leaving and being replaced by Errol Wilson (aka Errol Nelson), Keith Smith, and Ivan Renee, the latter of whom was tragically murdered. By 1978, Errol Wilson had joined Black Uhuru, and the group became a four-member ensemble from 1967 to 1978. During this time, Roy worked as a postman alongside notable artists like Barry Llewelly
