**The Rubettes Bio** The Rubettes formed in 1973 when a group of session musicians and singers were gathered in a London studio to record demos of songs written by a Polydor Records A&R head and co-writer. The original members included John Richardson, Alan Williams, and Pete Arnesen, who were later joined by Mick Clarke, Bill Hurd, and Tony Thorpe, making up the initial six-member lineup. Pete Arnesen was the first to leave the band, followed by Bill Hurd, who pursued a solo career, reducing the group to four members. Tony Thorpe departed in 1979, and the remaining trio continued to create music together. In 1982, the band re-formed for a nostalgia tour, with Alan Williams and Mick Clarke joined by Bill Hurd and Alex Bines on drums. Over the years, Mick Clarke was replaced by Steve Kinch and Trevor Holliday in subsequent years. By around 1992, the lineup consisted of Alex Bines, Alan Williams, Trevor Holliday, and Bill Hurd. In 1999, the re-formed group split into two "competing" entities due to a court order, resulting in The Rubettes featuring Bill Hurd and The Rubettes feat. Alan Williams.
