**The Rumbles Bio** The Rumbles have been a prominent rock-and-roll dance band in the Midwest for nearly 50 years. Originating as a high school "garage band" in Council Bluffs, IA, they began performing professionally in 1963. The original lineup featured Rich Clayton and Joe Brunnworth on guitars, Warren “Bud” Phillips on bass, and Steve Hough on drums. Hough is the only remaining original member today. The band's popularity surged after the Eddy Haddad Entertainment Agency of Omaha took over management in 1964, leading to several hit songs in the 1960s, including "Jezebel," which reached #1 in various Midwestern radio markets and charted on the Billboard Hot 100. Despite the loss of band founder Clayton in 1967, who moved to California, the Rumbles continued to find success with new members. However, as musical tastes shifted towards psychedelic music in the late 60s and early 70s, attendance at their dances dwindled, leading to their disbandment. The members pursued different paths until a reunion concert in 1979 sparked a revival. The success of this performance led to the band's reformation, with Hough taking over management after Haddad's retirement in 1986.
