**The Sandals Bio** The Sandals were an early and influential surf rock band formed in 1964 in the USA, best known for scoring the iconic surfing documentary *The Endless Summer* in 1966. The band originated in 1962 when drummer Danny Brawner joined a high school group called The Twangs, led by brothers Gaston and Walter Georis, who were heavily influenced by The Ventures. The core lineup included Brawner on drums, Gaston on keyboards, Walter on rhythm guitar, John Blakeley on lead guitar, and David Georis on bass, later replaced by John Gibson. Initially known as The Shadows, the group eventually adopted the name The Sandells, a blend of "Sand" and the popular suffix "-ells." They released their first album, *Scrambler!*, in early 1964 under World Pacific Records, where they met filmmaker Bruce Brown. Impressed by their music, Brown agreed to use several of their songs in *The Endless Summer*, allowing the band to benefit from soundtrack profits while Brown retained the film profits. During this period, they recorded multiple LPs and singles, including "Always" and "All Over Again," produced by Jim King. The band later modified their name to The Sandals and toured with the film, providing live music for Brown's narration. After the film's success, they recorded the vocal track "Endless Summer," aiming for a Beach Boys-inspired sound and re-released their LP as *
