The Sandmen is a Danish band formed in Copenhagen in 1985 by Ole Wennike, Stefan Jensen, Michael Illo Rasmussen, and Allan Vegenfeldt. Sam Mitchell joined the band in 1988. They debuted with a mini-LP in 1987, followed by studio albums including "Western Blood" (1988), the international version of "Western Blood" (1989), "Gimme, Gimme" (1991), "Sleepyhead" (1992), and "In The House Of Secrets" (1994) before disbanding in 1995. After the split, Ole Wennike and Allan Vegenfeldt formed a new band called Nerve, along with The Law guitarist and Alex Puddu, but this project also ended after releasing an EP and an album. The Sandmen reunited in 2003 and released the compilation "Beauties and Beasts," although Sam Mitchell did not participate due to illness. The reunited lineup included Allan Vegenfeldt, Ole Wennike, Michael Rasmussen, and Stefan Moulvad. Sam Mitchell passed away on June 15, 2006, at the age of 56.
