The Scientists, formed in 1978, are best remembered for their lineup from 1981 to 1985, which included Kim Salmon, Tony Thewlis, Boris Sujdovic, and Brett Rixon. This group created a unique sound characterized as swampy, primal, and modern-urban, producing classics like "Swampland," "Happy Hour," the "Blood Red River" mini LP, and "We Had Love." Their music blended elements of rock and punk while simultaneously rejecting those traditions, resulting in a distinctive style that reflected their experiences. After disbanding, the Scientists regrouped in 2007 with the lineup of Salmon, Thewlis, Sujdovic, and Cowie. Since then, they have released new material, including a brand new album in 2021. The band's history features various members, including James Baker, Roddy Ray'da, Dennis Byrne, Ben Juniper, Ian Sharples, Richard Hertz, Leanne Chock, Rob Coyne, and Nick Combe, contributing to their evolving sound throughout the years.
