The Sentinels were a US surf band active in the 1960s, hailing from San Luis Obispo, California. They are notable for incorporating a Latino influence in some of their recordings, including a single released in 1962. The band featured members such as Michael Olsen (known then as Michael Olsen) on keyboards, along with several others. In the summer of 1962, The Sentinels toured the country and opened for various bands. That same year, they came into contact with a company through a connection that would later become involved in legal action with a record label, resulting in a $122,000 lawsuit over unpaid royalties related to an alleged agreement for the masters of albums by The Sentinels and other groups. By 1965, the lineup reportedly included John Barbata, Ron Gornell, Kenny Hinkle, Norman Knowles, and Tommy Nuñes. Barbata would later join other groups as well. In August 1984, The Sentinels reunited and performed at the San Luis Obispo Officer's Club for their twenty-year class reunion.
