The Sequins were a female vocal soul trio from Chicago, Illinois, active in the 1970s. The group consisted of Veronica "Ronnie" Gonzalez, Linda Jackson, and Dottie Hayes, who were all students at Harlan High School. Their journey began after they won first prize at a talent contest at the legendary Regal Theater, which led them to perform in local clubs. They eventually caught the attention of Bill and Denise Jones, with Denise being notably recognized in the music industry. It is important to note that The Sequins should not be confused with similarly-named artists, including a 1960 female trio from Detroit, a 1960s female trio from the West Coast, a 1960s female vocal group likely from New York, a 1950s female-fronted LA Doo Wop group, and a 1950s female Doo-Wop trio from Chicago that backed male vocalist Jesse Blackful.
