The Soft Pink Truth (SPT) is a solo music project by Daniel, one-half of the Baltimore-based experimental electronics duo Matmos. The project was born in 2001 when a famous UK house producer challenged Daniel to produce a decent house record. The debut SPT tracks were released by Herbert on his label, followed by the full-length album "Do You Party?" in 2003. The second album, "Do You Want New Wave (Or Do You Want The Soft Pink Truth?)", featured electronic interpretations of UK punk and American hardcore classics, referencing a song by the band The Truth. After an extended hiatus due to Daniel's academic commitments and work with Matmos, The Soft Pink Truth returned in 2014 with the album "Why Do The Heathen Rage?", which included covers of various black metal songs and featured guest vocals from notable artists. The most recent album, "Why Pay More?", was self-released on Bandcamp under a "name your price" model, with original material dating back to 2007 when Daniel initiated the abandoned project The Soft Pink Tube. The Soft Pink Truth has also produced remixes for various artists, showcasing a diverse range of influences and styles throughout its discography.
