The Soul Clan was a collective of American soul musicians formed in 1966, led by Solomon Burke. The original members included Burke, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Don Covay, and Joe Tex. As time went on, both Pickett and Redding departed from the group, and they were replaced by fellow Atlantic artists such as Arthur Conley, a protégé of Redding's, and Ben E. King. The collective released the minor successful R&B song "Soul Meeting" but ultimately disbanded in 1969. In 1981, the group briefly reunited for a performance, with Pickett stepping in for Conley, who had moved to Europe, but they splintered once again shortly thereafter.
