**The Soul Tornadoes** The Soul Tornadoes were a soul band from Akron, Ohio, active during the 1960s and 1970s. The group consisted of brothers Bobby Heller, who played the Hammond organ, and Charles Heller, who played drums. They initially recruited James Crawford as a guitarist, but he left due to difficulties keeping up with the intense practice schedule of the Heller twins. They later found James 'Boots' Smith to fill the guitarist role. In 1969, the band caught the attention of Ernest Burt, who recognized their talent and signed them to his label. Their first release came out on Magic City Recordings, which was also owned by Burt. In the mid-1970s, they recorded a third release, but this recording unexpectedly left the Magic City vaults and ended up in the possession of Ernie Malick of another label under questionable circumstances.
