The Soul Vendors were a studio backing band formed in 1967 by Clement Dodd, who brought together a group of musicians including singers Alton Ellis and Ken Boothe, along with Roland Alphonso, Jackie Mittoo, Johnny Moore, Lloyd Brevett, Bunny Williams, and Errol Walters. This collaboration marked the end of the short-lived Soul Brothers. Shortly after their formation, Jackie Mittoo recorded his first solo album, "Jackie Mittoo in London," with The Soul Vendors. Over the next three years, Mittoo established himself as an in-house producer and arranger at Studio One while also pursuing his solo career.
