**The Soultons Bio** The Soultons originated in 1966 as The Fourth Estate, a garage band formed in Santa Clara, California. The original lineup consisted of Chuck Cali on lead guitar, Frank Bringino on rhythm guitar, Mando Reyes on bass, and Steve Ehrat on drums. In the Spring of 1967, the band met Bob Watkins at Moffett Field Naval Air Station, where he showcased his talent for singing Soul and R&B music. After joining the band, they changed their name to The Soultons and began to feature Bob as their lead singer. In 1968, The Soultons recorded their first single, "Rain Down Soul" and "Baby, I Don't Know," after winning a battle of the bands, which earned them recording time and copies of the 45s. Despite local promotion, the record did not achieve commercial success. In early 1969, they expanded their lineup to include a three-piece horn section: Chris Vasquez on trumpet, Dennis Buldo on sax, and Frank Bringino on trombone when not playing rhythm guitar. This seven-member configuration allowed them to develop the sound they desired. However, in the Summer of 1969, Bob left the band to return to the East Coast after completing his Navy service. Following his departure, The Soultons shifted their musical direction from Soul to a more brass-influenced Rock style. In the Spring of 1970, they recorded their second single, "Cloud Nine"
