The Startones were a vocal group hailing from Bridgeport, Connecticut, featuring members Matthew Morales (lead), Harvey Arrington, Arthur Blackwell, Carl Hatton, and Allen Mason. They made their debut in 1956 with the single "Forever My Love" b/w "I Love You So Dearly," released on Rainbow Records (45-341). In 1961, the group transitioned to a new name, The Carnations, and recorded "Long Tall Girl" b/w "Is There Such A World" for Lescay Records. The lineup changed slightly, with Edward Kennedy replacing Allen Mason. Additionally, Tommy Blackwell is credited in The Carnations, raising questions about whether he is the same person as Arthur Blackwell or a different individual altogether.
