**Status Quo Biography** Status Quo is an English band that began as a psychedelic group in 1962 before evolving into hard rock and pop-rock. Founded in South London, the original members included a bassist and a guitarist known by a different name in the band's early years. They initially went by several names, including 'The Paladins,' The Traffic, and others, before settling on Status Quo in 1967. The lineup by 1966 consisted of Lancaster, Rossi, a drummer, and a keyboardist. The band's first hit, "Pictures of Matchstick Men," marked their rise to fame. In 1969, they dropped "The" from their name, becoming simply "Status Quo." Their sound transitioned from psychedelic pop to a blues and blues rock influence, leading to the departure of Lynes in 1970. Their 1972 album "Piledriver" was pivotal, focusing on guitar-driven boogie-rock, which defined their successful years. In 1982, Coghlan left the band and was replaced by a new member. A multi-instrumentalist who had been with the band since 1976 was later recognized as a full member. Despite announcing a breakup in 1984, the band reunited in 1985, becoming the first to perform at the "Live Aid" show.
