The Stoppers were a four-piece vocal soul group hailing from Philadelphia, best known for their 1968 hit "Ain't Nothin' But a House Party." The group consisted of Alex Burke and Laddie Burke, who are younger brothers of a notable figure, along with fellow brothers Timmy Smith and Earl Smith. They formed while attending Germantown High School in Philadelphia and honed their musical talents under the guidance of the elder Burke.
