**The Stylers Biography** The Stylers, originally formed as The Angels in the early 1960s by four teenagers from East Coast Singapore—Rahman, Frankie Abdullah, Idros, and Randy Lee Keng—emerged as a prominent garage group in Singapore's music scene. Initially managed by Randy's uncle, the band featured three guitarists and a drummer, with Rahman on lead guitar, Frankie on bass, Randy on rhythm, and Idros on drums. Following lineup changes, including the replacement of Rahman with John Teo and Idros with Osman, they rebranded as The Rhythm Strikers before adopting the name The Stylers, inspired by their stylish performances. The group gained recognition after finishing as Runner-Up in the Cliff Richard & The Shadows Contest in late 1962, which led to numerous contracts and gigs, including a two-year Tea Dance contract at the Celestial Room in Orchard Road. Over time, the lineup evolved, incorporating members from The Burns, such as Ronnie See, Douglas Tan, and Alvin Wong. The Stylers achieved significant success with their first recording contract in the early 1960s, leading to a prolific output of over a thousand records in multiple languages, including Mandarin, English, Hokkien, and Cantonese.
