The Supersonics were a studio band formed after a split due to a tragic incident involving a member in 1965. Following this event, McCook left and joined a different label. The band consisted of old partners from previous times along with a group of new musicians. They became one of Jamaica's most productive studio backing bands, with releases credited to them or to Tommy, who led the group until their disbandment during a trip to Montreal, Canada, in 1969.
