The Swamp Rats, also known as Bob Hocko and the Swamp Rats, were a garage rock group hailing from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Active during the mid-1960s, they released several singles in 1966 and 1967, achieving regional success with cover versions of popular songs. Their music is recognized as one of the earliest examples of proto-punk, which has led to re-releases of their work. The band consisted of members Bob Hocko, Dick Newton, Don Schreiner, David Gannon, Paul Shalako, and Joey Guido.
