The Sweet Talks, originally known as the El Dorados and later as Medican Lantcis, is a highlife band that gained prominence in Ghana. Founded under the leadership of Smart Nkansah and A.B. Crentsil, the band started as the resident band at The Talk Of The Town Hotel in Tema, near Accra, where they built a reputation as one of the country’s most exciting young bands. Their popularity soared with the commercial success of their first three albums: Adam & Eve, Kusum Beat, and Spiritual Ghana. This success led them to tour regularly, reaching Los Angeles in 1978, where they recorded their biggest selling record, Party Time In Hollywood. In 1976, Smart Nkansah left the band to form the Black Hustlers, which included Eric Agyemang, A.B. Crentsil, J.Y. Thorty, and Prince Nana Afful. This new formation was renamed Super Sweet Talks. However, by 1980, the band disbanded due to the uncertain economic climate in Africa and a declining record industry. A.B. Crentsil later reformed the band as Super Sweet Talks International, releasing earthy albums such as Mewo Road, Adjoa, Moses, and Tantie Alaba. Eric Agyemang found success with his Kokoroko Band, producing albums like Wonko Menko, Highlife Safari, and Kona Kohwe, the last of which featured Crentsil and drummer
