The System is a musical duo formed in New York in 1982, consisting of vocalist/guitarist/songwriter Michael "Mic" Murphy and keyboardist/songwriter David Frank. They are known for their robotic, synthesizer-driven R&B sound, which they referred to as electro-soul. The duo recorded their first single, "It's Passion," in 1981 while working with the funk band Kleeer. The success of hearing their song on the radio during a Kleeer tour inspired them to pursue The System full-time. They released their debut album, "Sweat," and achieved their first hit with "You Are In My System" in 1982. Although 1984 was not a successful year for them due to the popularity of albums like "Purple Rain" and "Thriller," they released their second album, "X-Periment." In 1985, they followed up with their third album, "The Pleasure Seekers," which included hits such as "This is For You" and the title track, featured in an episode of the iconic '80s cop TV show "Miami Vice." Their most enduring hit, "Don't Disturb The Groove," came out in 1987. However, after the release of their 1990 album "Rhythm and Romance," which did not perform well, the duo disbanded. Murphy and Frank reunited in 1999 and released "ESP" (Electro Soul Pioneers) in 200
