The Themes were a US group based in Los Angeles, CA. They gained recognition with their first doo-wop hit "To Be Loved" and went on to release two notable early soul singles for Jamie, as well as one for Philips under an alias. Following this period, the group split into two factions. Lead singer Joe Jones, also known as Joey Jones or Joe C. Jones, pursued a solo career before reuniting with Lee's label in the late 60s as part of the Jones Brothers alongside his half-brother and former Pentagon member Otis Munson. Meanwhile, the remaining members, led by original member Ken Goodloe, formed a new group that was known by various names, including "the Corduroys," "Themes," "21st Century," and "Soul Patrol."
