**Bio: The Topics** The Topics were a soul group from Newark, New Jersey, active primarily in the 1960s and 1970s. Originally formed as the Uniteds, they signed with Chess Records in 1965, featuring members Ronald McCoy, Vaughn Curtis, Wesley "Bobby" Adams, and Gerald Jones. After releasing unissued demos, they left Chess Records after four months. As a trio, now including Charles "Charlie" Stodghill, they signed with Joe Evans' Carnival/Chadwick labels but had to change their name to the Topics. Their debut single, "I Don't Have to Cry," was released in 1966 but did not chart, nor did their follow-up, "Hey Girl Where Are You Going," in 1967. Stodghill left to join the Persuaders, and Robert Lewis replaced him. The group recorded tracks intended for Musicor or Atlantic Records, but these were never released. Managed by Danny Evans, they toured England in 1968 under the name Fabulous Impressions due to a promoter's request. The Topics gained recognition in the New York/Jersey area with the 1972 ballad "All Good Things Must End," featuring a new lineup of McCoy, Vaughn, Robert Radcliffe, and Yvonne McCoy (Ronald's wife).
