The Tornadoes are an American surf rock band formed in 1962 in Redlands, California. Originally known as "The Vaqueros," they also went by the name "The Hollywood Tornadoes" to avoid confusion with an English band that was charting in the U.S. with the track "Telstar." The current lineup includes members playing bass guitar and lead vocals, lead guitar and vocals, rhythm guitar and vocals, drums, and saxophone with backing vocals, active since 1999. The band has seen several past members, including a saxophonist who played from 1962 to 1996, Ernie Tavizon, who played saxophone from 1996 to 1999, and Mike Gooch, who served as a lead guitar substitute.
