The Twinkle Brothers, formed in 1962 by brothers Norman and Ralston Grant from Falmouth, Jamaica, began their musical journey singing R&B and gospel at the age of 10, later performing ska and calypso in hotels. After winning local talent competitions, they recorded their first single, "Somebody Please Help Me," in 1966 for producer Leslie Kong. They subsequently worked with notable Jamaican producers such as Duke Reid, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Sid Bucknor, Phil Pratt, and Bunny Lee. Throughout the late 1960s and early 1970s, they played on the island's hotel circuit, mixing calypso, soul, pop, and soft reggae, and began producing their own recordings in the early 1970s. Their debut album, "Rasta Pon Top," was released in 1975, featuring Rastafarian-themed songs like "Give Rasta Praise" and "Beat Them Jah Jah." Since the early 1990s, the Twinkle Brothers have collaborated regularly with a Polish band, blending reggae with traditional music from the Tatra Mountains. Currently led by founding member Norman Grant, the band includes legendary bass player, guitarists, keyboardists, drummers, and their engineer Derek "Fevrier." The Twinkle Brothers are regarded as one of the best live foundation reggae bands and continue to perform regularly worldwide, maintaining a loyal fanbase.
