THE TWINKLE STARS was a soul-pop group from Suriname formed in the late 1960s, consisting of eight members plus a soloist singer. The group gained significant popularity in the Netherlands, featuring notable members such as bandleader Alfred Ommen, rhythm guitarist and singer Edmond Oosthuizen, and drummer Ricardo Wouden. In the 1970s, Ruud Seedorf also contributed vocals. Their music blended Funk, Rhythm & Blues, and Kaseko, a genre that fuses African, European, and American styles, influenced by Dixieland, Calypso, Rock & Roll, and more. The group utilized a variety of instruments, including drums, saxophone, trumpet, and occasionally trombone. THE TWINKLE STARS disbanded in 1973 in Amsterdam.
