**The Typhoons Bio** The Typhoons were a unique studio band formed in February 1963, as the Embassy (UK) label began to focus more on beat bands rather than traditional solo singers. The name "The Typhoons" was coined during this time, marking them as one of the earliest Beatles tribute bands. Ray Pilgrim and Mike Redway recorded the first track for The Typhoons on February 7, 1963. Over the course of their existence from 1963 to 1965, they released 62 songs credited to The Typhoons, with various artists from Embassy's roster providing vocals. Ray Pilgrim sang on 29 tracks, Mike Redway on 20, Ken Barrie on 13, Tony Crane on 19, Joan Baxter on 3, and Paul Rich on 1. The Typhoons remained a studio-only project throughout their career.
