The Ugly Ducklings were a Canadian garage rock band formed in 1965 in Scarborough, Ontario, later based in Toronto's Yorkville. The band experienced multiple lineup changes and ultimately disbanded in 1969. They saw a brief resurgence with a new lineup from 1973 to 1974, before the original members reunited from 1979 to 1982. Following this reunion, they continued to perform intermittently until the death of a member in 2004. Throughout their career, the band featured various members in different roles. The original lineup included a lead singer and harmonica player, rhythm guitarist and vocalist, and several lead guitarists, as well as bass guitarists and drummers. Notably, Peter Kindred, brother of guitarist David Kindred, played bass for one gig in 1969, and John Hamilton drummed for one gig in 1982. The band also collaborated with keyboardists in the studio during the 1980s. In the 1973-74 lineup, known as 'The Mix,' the band included a new lead singer, several lead guitarists, bass guitarists, and keyboardists, along with drummers. The Ugly Ducklings left a mark on the garage rock scene in Canada, with their music continuing to resonate even after their active years.
