The Underground Balloon Corps, originally known as The Snaps, released their first single, "You Don't Want Me"/"You're All Mine," in 1966 under Cuppy Records, which garnered some success in the Philadelphia and South Jersey area. Following this, the group recorded "The Voice" and "Polka Dotted Eyes" in late 1966, releasing it in early 1967 on East Coast Records, a subsidiary of Cuppy. Both songs were written by Robert Hummel, with "The Voice" designated as the A-side. Unfortunately, the record did not achieve commercial success, leading the group to change their name to The Underground Balloon Corps. They later shortened it to Balloon Corps. and went on to produce records for Scope, Bell, and Dunhill before disbanding in 1970.
