Unwritten Law is a punk rock band from California, formed in 1990. The original lineup consisted of 12-year-old drummer Wade Youman, bassist Craig Winters, guitarist Matt Rathje, and vocalist Chris Mussey. Over the years, the band has experienced numerous lineup changes, ultimately stabilizing around Youman, vocalist Scott Russo, guitarists Rob Brewer and Steve Morris, and bassist John Bell, with this configuration releasing the band's first two albums. As of now, the lineup includes Scott Russo on vocals, Wade Youman on drums, Chris Lewis (formerly of Fenix TX) on guitar, and Jonny Grill (Scott Russo's younger brother) on bass. The band has seen various members over the years, including vocalists Nathan Rooney and Vince "Sloppo" Hausherr, as well as guitarists Ace Von Johnson and Kevin Besignano. The bass position has also changed hands multiple times, with Jonny Grill currently holding the role. Wade Youman has been a consistent presence in the band, playing drums from 1990 to 2004 and returning in 2013. Other drummers have included Dylan Howard and Tony Palermo. Additionally, Wade Youman has mentioned Shannon Woods, Donald Stone, and Jason Hill as previous members of Unwritten Law in a 2005 interview.
