The Velaires were a band from Sioux City, Iowa, originally formed in 1958. They initially started under the name The Flairs but changed their name after a lineup change. After releasing their first single and signing with a record label, they adopted the name The Velaires, under which their first single was re-released. The name change was inspired by a performance they had played. The band broke up in 1963, but some members continued their musical journey under a different name. The lineup included Daniel Matousek on rhythm guitar, Bob Dawdy on lead guitar, Jerry DeMers on bass, and Don Bourret on drums.
