The Village Choir is a New York-based soul band that originated in the late 1960s as a quintet. In the 1970s, the band recorded with a different lineup centered around core members Clip Hightower and producer Charles Matthews. During the 1960s and 1970s, the group featured Clip Hightower as the lead vocalist, alongside Delores Cooper (vocals), Jimmy Marshall (bass), Pat McQueen (soprano), and Donotis Parker (tenor). In the 1980s, the lineup changed, with Clip Hightower continuing as the lead and joined by Deloris Ragsdale, Lee McDonald, and Margaret Berry on vocals.
