The Wanted & Co. was a band from Florence, KY, active from 1966 to 1970. Originally known as The Wanted, they added "& Co." to their name to avoid confusion with a Detroit band of the same name. The group recorded a 45 RPM single at King Records, which was pressed at QCA. Their single featured the original song "Why," inspired by the Yardbirds' version of "Smokestack Lightning," and a cover of "My Baby Don't Care," originally by The Gants. The discography includes the single (45) "Why / My Baby Don't Care" (Wanted & Co. no #, Q-80232, Feb 1968). The members of the band included Bill Marksberry (lead singer), Mike Hodges (drums), Mike Gerkin (guitar), Dave Nitchke, Greg Peck, Jim Morris, and George Kerns, with Tom Ross also being a member.
