The Wolfgang Press is a British band formed in 1983, consisting of members Michael Allen, Mark Cox, and Andrew Gray. Allen and Cox had previously played together in other bands, while Gray was initially a member of another group. Recognized as one of 4AD's longest-tenured acts, The Wolfgang Press recorded consistently until the mid-nineties, culminating in the release of their album in 1995 and a retrospective in 2001. After a prolonged silence, the band released an LP of demos recorded in 1995-96 for an aborted sixth album for Record Store Day in 2020. In the summer of 2024, Allen and Gray announced the reactivation of the group, signing with a new label and bringing in Gray's brother Stephen to replace Mark Cox. Following a series of live performances, a comeback album was released in September of that year.
