**Bio of the Woolies** The Woolies were a garage rock band from Lansing, Michigan, formed in the 1960s. The original lineup included vocalist Stormy Rice, keyboardist/harpist "Boogie" Bob Baldori, his guitarist brother Jeff, bassist Ron English, and drummer Bee Metros. In 1968, Stormy Rice left the band to pursue a solo career, and multi-instrumentalist Zocko Groendahl replaced him. Led by "Boogie" Bob Baldori, the Woolies achieved national success and collaborated with notable artists such as Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley, Stevie Wonder, and Chuck Berry. Baldori moved to East Lansing in 1961 to attend Michigan State University and was involved in the local music scene, founding Spirit Records in the mid-1960s. Unlike many local bands influenced by the British Invasion, the Woolies drew inspiration from early American blues, performing songs by artists like Robert Johnson and Chicago rhythm and blues musicians. They played frequently in East Lansing, particularly at local bars, and were part of a vibrant rock scene. The Woolies gained recognition for their cover of "Who Do You Love," which became their biggest hit after its release as a single in 1966.
