The Wyld was a garage rock band based in Greenville, SC, active from 1966 to 1967 and led by Rudy "Rude" Wyatt. Their song 'Lost One' was featured as the B-side to three of their four singles, credited to The Wyld, although only Rudy Wyatt was involved in The Roots, the group behind the track. The decision to credit The Wyld was influenced by Major Bill Smith, the record label boss, who was not willing to pay for the mastering of additional tracks for the B-sides. The Wyld's music appears on several Texas compilations due to some of their records being released on a Texas label. It's worth noting that many releases refer to the band simply as 'Wyld,' despite an original record label photo demonstrating the inclusion of 'The' in their name.
