The Younger Generation was a studio project initiated by a producer. Their first release, "We Rap More Mellow," featured the Furious Five, although they were not credited on the record. Instead, the name The Younger Generation was used, leading to the belief that it was an alias for the Furious Five. However, subsequent releases featured different MCs or singers while still using the name The Younger Generation. The second release is credited to The [missing information] & The Younger Generation, and later releases continued to showcase various artists. It is understood that the name Younger Generation was employed by Terry Lewis to release projects recorded with different artists. In a 2002 interview, after discussing The Furious Five's original lineup, a member was asked about the record "We Rap More Mellow" and the reason behind the name Younger Generation. He revealed that the producer created it and released it without their knowledge, stating, "We didn't sign contracts or anything.....he just threw the name Younger Generation on it."
