The Young Mods were a vocal soul group from Dayton, Ohio, active from 1969 to 1978. Led by Tommy Henderson, who also wrote the group's notable songs, the lineup included Ronnie Ditto, Carl Dronaugh, and Raymond Smith. The group released three exceptional 45s characterized by their sweet soul style, reminiscent of the Chi-Lites and other contemporary groups known for their vulnerable and wistful sound. Their first 45 was pressed by Musicol, and it is believed that their second and most acclaimed single, "I Can’t Hurt You Back," was also recorded there. Several years later, they recorded their third 45 at Cyberteknics in Dayton.
