The Zakons are a garage rock outfit hailing from Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. They gained recognition with their legendary single "Wasted / Trackin'" released in 1961 on Cuca. Despite experiencing significant lineup changes over the years, the band remained active through the 1980s, with drummer Gerry Irwin being the only consistent member throughout their tenure. The Zakons released their sole album, "The Sounds of Zakons 73'," which showcased a blend of lounge, soul, and garage rock. In 1980, they put out their last effort, the single "Dollar To My Name / Dreamland USA." Current members include Gerry Irwin (vocals, drums, percussion), Duke Ross (vocals, organ), Dave Freiberg (vocals, bass), and Babe Krakowski (vocals, guitar). Past members have included Bill Joswick (vocals, guitar), Jon Mullen (vocals, saxophone), and Ron Pagel (vocals, guitar).
