Thee Headcoats is a band led by garage rock primitive Billy Childish (also known as Bill Hamper), hailing from Kent, England. Over the decades, Childish has consistently produced straightforward garage rock, a genre that saw a revival in popularity in the early 2000s with bands like the Hives and the White Stripes. He first emerged in 1979 with the mod-punk band Pop Rivets, which evolved into the catchier Milkshakes (also known as Thee Milkshakes or Mickey & the Milkshakes) by 1982. The Milkshakes were notably prolific, releasing seven albums in 1984, including four on the same day. Following this, Childish formed Thee Mighty Caesars. Since the late 1980s, Thee Headcoats, featuring drummer Bruce Brand from Pop Rivets, Milkshakes, and Mighty Caesars, has served as Childish's main outlet for more accessible rock & roll. Their discography includes the 1995 Beached Earls CD, which compiles the vinyl albums Beach Bums Must Die and The Earls of Suavedom, and Bo in Thee Garage, a tribute to Bo Diddley. Live albums like Live!
