Thione Seck was a prominent Senegalese singer and musician born on March 12, 1955. He was known for his contributions to the mbalax genre and is regarded as one of Senegal's greatest artists, alongside other notable figures. Coming from a family of "griot" singers from the Wolof people, Seck began his career with a band and later formed his own, experimenting with Indian and Arabic musical scales. In 1977, he joined the renowned Orchestra Baobab. Thione Seck passed away on March 14, 2021, and was the father of a notable individual.
