The Third Guitar was a 1960s soul group from Miami, Florida, originally formed as an R&B band called The Soul Pleasers, which released one single in 1965. The band's main figure was vocalist and songwriter Eddie Holloway, known for his energetic and charismatic leadership. In 1968, Holloway caught the attention of producer Jack Taylor from New York City, leading to the band's name change to The Third Guitar. The new name reflected the fact that a guitarist was teaching Eddie to play guitar, although he never performed on guitar live. The group eventually grew tired of New York and returned to Miami, but they still managed to release four singles for Rojac, Taylor's label.
