This Heat was formed in 1976 when members of art-rock and the British fusion jazz scene joined together. The band, which included influential figures, quickly evolved into an experimental group known for their use of tape loops and production techniques. This Heat disbanded in 1982-1983 following a European tour, during which a new member replaced Gareth Williams, who had recently left the band. After the breakup, one member pursued solo work and established his own studio in the late 1980s, later releasing a CD under his name. Gareth Williams released a cassette-only album in 1985 and continued to perform as a DJ until shortly before his death. Another member chose to remain active in public performances and formed a new group with Trefor Goronwy and several others.
