Tim Buckley was an American singer-songwriter born on February 14, 1947, in Washington, D.C. He was active from the second half of the 1960s until his untimely death at the age of 28 on June 29, 1975, in Santa Monica, California. Initially starting out as a folk singer, Buckley quickly distinguished himself with his extraordinary voice and innovative compositions. He gained recognition through his exploration of experimental music and improvisation, particularly evident in his albums "Happy Sad," "Lorca," and "Starsailor." Despite his artistic achievements, these albums did not yield commercial success. In the later phase of his career, Buckley attempted a more commercial sound, which also failed to achieve significant success at the time. His life came to a tragic end due to a lethal combination of binge drinking and a heroin overdose, occurring just a day after he completed the final show of a U.S. tour in Dallas, Texas.
