Tim Dog, born on January 3, 1967, in the Bronx, was a prominent rapper known for his contributions to hip hop from 1988 until his passing on February 14, 2013. He gained notoriety with his controversial 1991 diss track "Fuck Compton," which is often regarded as a catalyst for the East Coast–West Coast hip hop rivalry. Tim Dog's debut LP received critical acclaim, and he continued to release music throughout his career, including a notable 1994 diss track aimed at Snoop Dogg. Initially signed to a major label from 1991 to 1993, Tim Dog later released his music independently, primarily through his own label. In 1996, he collaborated with Kool Keith on an album, and they reunited for a second project in 2009. Despite critical praise for his later works, including 2002's "Immortal" and 2006's "BX Warrior," these albums struggled with promotion and commercial success. In 2011, Tim Dog pleaded guilty to grand larceny after defrauding a woman out of $32,000 in an online dating scam, resulting in a five-year probation sentence and restitution. His case was featured on Dateline NBC in 2012. After moving to Atlanta, he passed away following a seizure related to diabetes.
