Timothy McNealy, born in Bonham in November 1945, passed away on December 4, 2017. Raised by a blind minister and his wife, he was forbidden from listening to R&B on the radio, although he was allowed to play piano with strict instructions to do so only for God. In 1966, he moved to Dallas and began working at the Blackout club on Lovers Lane. During the 1960s, he was an instrumental part of Bobby Patterson's Mustangs, providing backup vocals and playing keyboard on regional hits, as well as playing trombone for ABNAK. McNealy remained with the Mustangs until 1969 before pursuing a solo career and recording singles. The label SHAWN, named after his oldest son, was established during this time. Known locally as Dr. Mack, he continued to produce music until his death, eventually returning to his roots in Gospel music and producing several CDs from his home studio. In the early 2000s, he joined the Fabulous Breadwinners, a funk band from Denton, for a one-off show alongside local DJs and collectors who had connected with him.
