**Bio: Tirez Tirez** Tirez Tirez was an American rock band active from 1978 to 1988, known for its new wave and art rock sensibility influenced by minimalism. Founded by Missouri native Mikel Rouse, the band made its debut as the opening act for Talking Heads in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1978. The original lineup included Rouse (vocals/guitar), Rob Shepperson (drums), and Jeff Burk (bass). They released two rare self-titled LPs, *No Double Bagging Necessary* (1978) and *Rush & Dissonance* (1979), before moving to New York City in 1979, where they self-released their debut single, "Scattered"/"Scenery." The band's third album, *Etudes*, recorded in New York City in 1980, was initially distributed by the British label Object Music, selling 2,000 copies in the UK before being released in the US by Aura Records in late 1981. The band saw lineup changes starting in 1982 when Burk left and was replaced by James Bergman, with Philip Johnston joining as well. This lineup recorded *Story Of The Year* in 1983, released only in Europe. In 1984, Rouse began exploring more minimalist work with his instrumental "chamber orchestra," leading to overlapping memberships between Tirez Tirez and his other project, Broken Consort
