Tito Puente, often referred to as "The King of Latin Music," was a Puerto Rican musician, songwriter, and bandleader known for his contributions to salsa and Latin jazz. Born on April 20, 1923, in New York City, Puente was a talented percussionist and played various instruments, including the timbales and vibraphone. He gained fame for his energetic performances and innovative blends of Afro-Cuban rhythms with jazz elements. Throughout his career, Puente released numerous albums and won multiple Grammy Awards, solidifying his legacy in the world of Latin music. He passed away on May 31, 2000.
