TJ Swann, originally from Harlem, is a notable figure in the New York music scene. Active as a DJ and MC during his peak years from 1973 to 1979, he played at some of the most iconic clubs in New York City and its surrounding boroughs, including Bentley's, Broadway International, Nemos, and Harlem World. He recorded several tracks for Express Records between 1979 and 1981, both as a solo artist and in collaboration with crew members such as Pee Wee Mel, Barry B (R.I.P), Les Love, and Solo Sound. Even after his prominence in the New York DJ scene, TJ Swann continued to be active in music, including radio, well into his later years after relocating to South Carolina.
